Virginia families choosing community birth deserve easy, affordable, and barrier free access to standard medication for pregnancy, childbirth, and their newborn that makes birth and babies safer. The current restrictions to access lead many families to forgo potentially life-saving treatment for themselves and their newborn. We know through research that these medications are safe and effective and that when families have easy access their compliance, satisfaction, and outcomes are improved.
